IIT Madras researchers develop new touchscreen technology that lets you feel the texture of images.

Researchers at IIT Madras have created a new touchscreen display technology that allows users to feel the textures of images as their fingers move across the touch surface. Existing touchscreens can only sense your location of finger touch.

It is the next generation in touch display technology, known as 'iTad,' which stands for interactive touch active display. A built-in multitouch sensor monitors finger movement, and surface friction is modified by software. The technology has the potential to elevate the online purchasing experience. 'iTad' has several significant applications, including automotive, consumer electronics, and digital signage. The Touchlab prototype can be turned into a product in a year. Around 30% of internet shopping returns are due to a mismatch in customer experience.

Shardeum, a blockchain startup, has raised $18.2 million in seed funding. Close to 50 investors participated in the round, including Jane Street, Struck Crypto, The Spartan Group, Big Brain Holdings, DFG, Ghaf Capital Partners, and Foresight Ventures, among others. The funds raised, according to the business, will be used to expand the company's research and marketing operations, as well as its product and design development team.

When compared to other base-level blockchains such as Ethereum, Shardeum provides a smart contract platform with significantly greater scalability capabilities. The blockchain employs dynamic state sharding technology, which enables it to expand linearly and increase transactions per second with each node added to the network.
